Sorry it's been so long since I posted anything. We've been busy these past few months, and all I've had time to write was about half a post right before Christmas! Maybe I'll save it for next year...

It's hard to believe it's been almost a month since the year started. It's true, what "they" say -- time goes by so much faster as you age. It seems like the past year or two has flown by. The past nine months certainly have! Just take a look at Gregory now:

Isn't he something? He has a whole list of "words," crawls, stands on his own, and just started shaking his head, which he thinks is hilarious! He is the happiest little guy you ever met, although he definitely throws a good tantrum when he wants to get into something and Mommy or Daddy say "no." For the most part, though, he is all smiles and giggles and loves to play. We expect him to start walking soon, although we're in no hurry for the extra challenges that will bring.

Greg is well into the second phase of his field training and loves work. He usually comes home with one or two exciting stories but for the most part he hasn't been involved in any situations that turned dangerous, for which I'm very thankful.

As for me... I am so excited to share with you two things going on in my life right now: First, I can really feel the Lord moving in my life, and I'm experiencing spiritual growth that has really shaken me up in some substantial and powerful ways. I look forward to sharing more about that in the future. Second, I am currently trying to establish a group of Christian police officer's wives as a ministry effort. I'm not yet sure what this group will be or do, but I'm hopeful that I can minister both to other police wives/families and that the group itself can minister to our police force and our community. There are so many who are hurting and in need of Christ's love. Please pray for me as I try to build this group. I've never done anything like this... I'm actually a very shy, uneasy person, and this isn't the type of thing I usually do, but I just feel called to it.

Well, hopefully I'll make good on my promise to continue posting this time, and you'll hear from me again soon!

"Fall"ing Back...

Well it has been a "hot minute," as one of my good friends would say. I had a feeling I wouldn't be doing much blogging for a while when Greg returned from Afghanistan, but even I didn't think it would be over two months! We spent most of September enjoying time together as a family and getting back into the swing of things. Greg has adjusted well to his new role as a daddy, and I'm so greatful for his help. Of course, it's been a challenge at times for me to let Greg help. It was just Gregory and me for so long, I got pretty used to taking care of everything. It's nice to have someone else here to help, but it also means I don't get to control everything. If you've been reading my blog for a while, you might have noticed I struggle with that just a bit...

In October, Greg went back to work, which meant it was time for another adjustment! Everything has gone very smoothly for our family since Greg returned to work. It is tough when he has to work on Sundays, but we feel very blessed that he is on day shift for the next several weeks and he will be receiving all the upcoming holidays off! As police rookies, we definitely didn't expect this the first year!

Gregory is also doing well. He is a little over six months old now! It's hard to believe, and when I see him playing and giggling, I wonder where the time has gone! Just a quick summary of all the milestones we've accomplished since the last update: introduced solids, learned to sit up without help, learned to pull himself up (the crib had to be lowered), started "talking," had two teeth come in, and now... he just started crawling! He crawled for the first time on Sunday evening, and it was just a few inches. So far, he is still moving very slowly, but it's definitely exciting to see him go.

So these are the major updates. I will post some new pictures soon and hopefully return to blogging more periodically. Now that we are a "police family" instead of a "military family," I'm sure there will be a lot to write about. One of the things I've found true for us in both situations is that it takes faith and trust in our Lord to protect Greg and strengthen us as we face the challenges of military and police life. I will talk more about this later. In the meantime, leave me a comment and let me know how to pray for you and your family.

Grace and Peace to you,

Lindsey

John Piper on the Prosperity Gospel

I've just watched John Piper's response to the question about whether a true Christian can believe the prosperity gospel. I completely agree with his comments and love the way he deals with the question! Check out this video for yourself:
